My name is Barb Keep and I am a K-12 Librarian and also teach Elementary Keyboarding, Elementary Library Skills, and High School Business including Accounting, Spreadsheets (NCTA) and Sales Communications (NCTA). I enjoy reading and exploring technology with the students! I love reading the Nebraska Golden Sower Nominee selections along with many other good books! I look forward to student recommendations of book series and I'm always searching for new books to introduce to our collection!

Last year, I had the opportunity to hold a "lunchtime" book club with the 6th grade class. We read the Golden Sower Nominee Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein (GS Intermediate Winner!) and listened to the CD of Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

In Elementary Keyboarding class, we explore technology and learn keyboarding skills . We learn the Microsoft Office applications of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. We also explore Coding, Ozobot robots, 3D printer, Virtual Reality, and other new technology programs! This year I'm excited to join the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation's Ag Pen Pal Program. We will get to correspond with a farmer or rancher throughout the year and use our keyboarding skills as well!

For the 2nd year, Elm Creek is partnering with Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) in Curtis to offer duel credit courses. The students log-in to the UNL Blackboard site to obtain their assignments and correspond with the instructor. In the Spreadsheets course, students learn the Microsoft Excel program and in Sales Communications, they interview a salesperson and create a sales project!

A little about me...Both my husband, Willie, and I are Elm Creek High School graduates and graduated from Kearney State College with a Bachelor of Science in Business degree. After raising our three children, I obtained a teaching certificate through the UNK Teacher Transitional Program and then obtained a Master of Art in Technology with a Library emphasis degree from UNK. All three of our children are Elm Creek High School graduates and hold college degrees - (Nathan) MS from K-State in Agronomy, (Tracy) Palmer Chiropractic School in Davenport, IA, and (Kelsey) BA in Art/Music from Doane College.

I look forward to the school year and watching our students continue to learn!
